Hotkey — even hands-free
You can configure a foot pedal (USB foot switch) emulating a key. Fully hands-free — a real scenario for severe cases.
If your wrists have given up on typing, dictation might be the tool that gives you your work back. A serious product without sugary "we care" talk. If things are hard for you — write to accessibility@aurorawhisp.com, we will figure it out personally.

If 10,000 words/day in Free is not enough because voice is your primary input due to RSI or another medical condition, and Pro is out of financial reach — write to accessibility@aurorawhisp.com. We give free Pro licences to people who need the program for medical reasons, no documentation or proof required. That is our principle. You do not have to explain — just say "need free Pro for accessibility".
Setup 1 — mobile (laptop): a USB pedal like VEC Infinity ($30) under the desk, emulating F9. A clip-on lavalier mic for $15-25 (Audio-Technica ATR3350 or similar). The app on the laptop. Fully hands-free, you can work in a café. Setup 2 — stationary (home office): Kinesis Savant Elite 2 (3-pedal, $150) — each pedal can be a separate hotkey. A studio condenser mic on a stand (Blue Yeti / Rode NT-USB), $80-150. The app on the desktop. Setup 3 — hybrid: pedal + dictation for long texts, voice commands via AutoHotkey for general navigation. Suits partial loss of hand function.
1) Hotkey: instead of Ctrl+Space (two fingers) bind a single key — F9, F12, Scroll Lock, or a key triggered by a pedal. 2) Streaming mode: recognition starts while you speak — by release the text is nearly ready. Less holding. 3) Widget size — Large: easier on the eyes, especially with neck strain. 4) Confirmation sound: turn off in Settings → Widget → Sound — extra trigger not needed. 5) Light models for speed: Zipformer English / Whisper Tiny / Base / Small. Heavy models load the CPU, the laptop heats up — bad for long sessions.
AuroraWhisp does not replace medical treatment, physical therapy, or an ergonomic consultation. The app simply takes load off your hands while working. If you have real RSI — keep treating it; voice input is one tool, not a cure. If symptoms get worse — see a doctor, not a developer.
This is a serious page. If typing is hard for you — write to us, we will try to tune the setup with you personally.
